 Using Wikis in Your Classroom

 Today's Agenda

Introduction:

Just what is a wiki anyway?

7 things you should know:http://www.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/ELI7004.pdf

How can wikis improve my lessons?

We'll give you some ideas for using  wikis as well as examples of some we think are quite good.

Try it out.

You will add a new page of your own to this wiki, put in your picture and link to a favorite site.

Create your own wiki.

It's as easy as making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Hence the name of the site.

 Ideas for using your wiki

  • Sharing student writing
  • Peer editing
  • Book reviews
  • Sharing research
  • Making a class dicitonary - vocabulary words, content words
  • Making a class encyclopedia
  • Study Guide - sharing notes for tests, midterms and finals
  • Collaborative Textbook
  • Poetry Anthology
  • Literature Circles
  • Progressive Story
  • Class Newspaper
